How did I survive before the advent of Instapaper?

Over the years I dabbled in Google Reader and other news management tools. I am a hard core consumer of web news and narrative content but often don’t have the time readily at hand. There is nothing more satisfying than a long-form piece in the NYTimes, Vanity Fair or Time, it sets the world right.

Enter Instapaper, my new favorite app on the iPhone/iPad combined with their excellent website. I discovered today that they also make available RSS feeds of your unread article box and archive, and I am sharing the feed for anyone interested.

Highly recommended app if you are rocking an iOS device.

Trying something new

Our son got the courage to try something new this fall and joined the Richmond Kickers program. The first few weeks were rough with David being intimidated and confused but he has taken to the game quite nicely. Very proud of him…

New spit and polish

There is a fresh coat of paint on the site as of this morning. The old site look is gone after two years replaced by a more modern, minimalist theme.

I also deployed the excellent WPTouch framework for smartphone access and must say I am very impressed. Hope the new site look is agreeable.

Backing yourself into a corner

The (very) Ex-husband of the wonderful woman who cared for David during the day from one month until about nine months old hit upon some “challenges”. Challenges of his own making and the kind that make you facepalm, dude needs a good lawyer…

Henrico man faces 19 charges involving prostitution, minors

A Henrico man is being held without bond on ten felonies and nine misdemeanors, including four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

On Tuesday, police arrested Jody H. Larson, 36, of Pleasant Run Drive. That day began a three-day crackdown on prostitution and related offenses throughout the county.

Police believe Larson arranged for two underage girls to accept money for sex at unspecified hotels along Broad Street in the West end of the county.

Remembering the simple things in life

The Labor Day Holiday weekend, lengthened by one day due to the threat of Hurricane Earl, was spent visiting Rhonda’s parents (Western Maryland), spending time at the Thunder Over the Blue Ridge Airshow, and relaxing.

David and I, with the puppy (Jesús) is tow, took some time to explore off the beaten path. I was reminded of some of the simple pleasures that life has to offer.

A new take on a very old trick

It looks like our friends in the Nigerian internet cafes are evolving their pitch. Received moments ago, this message from “Lt. Gen. Mohammed Aliyu, National Security Adviser to the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria” is rather pathetic to be quite honest. One of my favorite aspect to this pitch is that the advisor they name is actually a notable football star in the country.

…it also looks like they lack effective spell checking software.
